Training
Maxims
|
|
General
- When in doubt, work your weakness. (sport-wise,
i.e. swimming rather than running)
- When having doubt, work your weakness.
(phychological-wise. i.e. hills on the bike)
- When not in doubt:
work your weakness!
- Always listen to your body; however, learn to
distinquish between fatigue and laziness.
- Have an objective(s) for each and every workout...and...
- "Let no power nor persuasion deter you from
your task."
Swimming
- Breakthroughs come during your second 3,000
yds.
- Train like a swimmer (learn flip turns, pace clock,
etc.).
- Pull-bouy no more than 20% of your workout.
- Learn to kick effectively.
Biking
- Shifting (timing) is a real skill -- learn it!
- Ride rollers rather than a wind trainer in the winter.
- When in doubt: work your weakness (i.e. hills, descents,
etc.).
- Train like a roadie.
Running
- Run "naturally" only if you are a natural
runner.
- Breakthroughs come during the second half of the
workout: stay alert & be prepared!
- When in doubt: work your weakness (i.e. hills, speed,
etc.)
- Train like a runner.
